SHOW SIDEBAR
420 came early for New Yorkers.

On the 31st of March, New York has joined the ranks of “green states” by officially legalizing marijuana for recreational use. After New Jersey has recently legalized marijuana, New York has followed suit becoming the 15th state to take this step.

 Congratulations, New York!

Almost a year after the New York Times publishing company named AirVape X the best vaporizer for the second time, news about a highly anticipated legislation shook the internet.

The legislation was signed by Governor Andrew M Cuomo last Wednesday. The act may seem timely, but it does way more than just allows you to smoke pot in public without having to fear the law.

New York in the next year will instantly become the state with one of the largest legal cannabis markets.

In the nation and under the law, 40 percent of tax revenue from cannabis will be steered to minority communities that had disproportionate numbers of marijuana arrests and New Yorkers with previous marijuana convictions will have their records wiped clean.

 Let’s see the details…

Individuals over 21 are now allowed to use and possess 3 ounces of cannabis for recreational purposes, or 24 grams of concentrated forms of the drug, such as oils.

Smoking marijuana in New York State is legal now everywhere, where tobacco is allowed.

It is illegal to smoke in schools and cars. Wherever tobacco is forbidden, like beaches, boardwalks, parks, pedestrian plazas, and playgrounds marijuana prohibited as well.

What will happen over time?

In the next few months, New Yorkers can expect public places called “consumption sites” to be set up for the legal use of marijuana.

Even though you can consume marijuana legally, you might run into trouble buying it.

Dispensaries will take up to a year from now to have issued licenses, written rules, and mechanisms for regulating marijuana sales by the state. The good news is, that after it is done there could be as many as 1000 retailers across the state where you can get your substance legally, or have marijuana delivered to your doorstep.

Note: The new law applies statewide, but cities, towns, and villages can opt-out of allowing dispensaries

As marijuana becomes legal, home-growing will be an option as well.

At home, you can grow up to three mature and three immature plants per adult (over the age of 21) but the maximum of twelve plants in a household with at least two adults living there. The list of qualifying medical conditions for medical cannabis will also be expanded.

Epilogue

Gov. Cuomo said: “This is a historic day in New York, one that rights the wrongs of the past by putting an end to harsh prison sentences, embraces an industry that will grow the Empire State’s economy, and prioritizes marginalized communities so those that have suffered the most will be the first to reap the benefits.”

 Happy Vaping!
