CBG What?! What Vapers Need to Know About this Cannabidiol

First, there was THC. Then, CBD came into the picture.

And now, the vaping community, more specifically those who are fans of loose leaf vaping, welcomes the (relatively) new kid on the block…

CBG.

CBG or Cannabigerol is one of the more than 110 cannabinoids found in loose leaf. Like its cousins, CBG provides a number of benefits for those who consume it. So, it comes as no surprise that CBG oil cartridges for vape pens are becoming increasingly popular in the market.

However, there are vapers still not “in the know”. Here are a few basic things about CBG for those who want to get to know it better.

THC and CBD Can’t Exist Without CBG

In 1975, researchers found out that the acid form of CBG called Cannabigerol Acid or CBGA, is the very first cannabinoid that forms in a growing loose leaf plant. Hence, it is the precursor to other cannabinoids including the more widely consumed THC and CBD.

Without CBG, THC and CBD can’t exist.

CBG Balances the Effects of Other Cannabinoids

Just like CBD, CBG is non-psychoactive and will not get those who use CBG oil in their vaporizers high.

Interestingly, studies have shown that CBG actually balances or limits the psychoactive effects of other cannabinoids, more specifically THC. It has been dubbed as the “traffic cop” of cannabinoids.

In scientific terms, this is because CBG interacts differently with the endocannabinoid receptors of the brain. In layman’s terms, CBG counteracts the paranoia and other debilitating psychoactive effects of THC.

This is great news to those who consume loose leaf for medicinal purposes, or even those who want to get a day-time high. They can still retain a certain level of mental acuity to get through their day.

It Has Great Anti-Inflammatory Benefits

CBG possesses many of the benefits that THC and CBD have, such as pain relief and anxiety reduction.

However, what’s wowing scientists are the anti-inflammatory benefits of CBG. Some of the medicinal benefits that CBG offers when it comes to inflammation relief include:

  • Treating glaucoma by decreasing pressure in the eyes
  • Positive effects on inflammatory bowel diseases, and possibly Crohn’s disease
  • Slowing down colon cancer progression in mice
  • Protecting healthy brain cells in mice with Huntington’s Disease (a degenerative disease where the nerve cells in the brain deteriorate)

There’s More to Explore

Only a few studies have been done on CBG and there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding this cannabidiol. In fact, there are only a few retailers that are currently selling CBG oil cartridges and terpenes. On the other hand, it won’t come as a surprise if it’s able to catch up in popularity with its more established cannabidiol cousins sooner rather than later.

One thing is for sure though: CBG is a welcome addition to any loose leaf vaper’s stash.

AirVape sells only the highest quality vaporizers and vape accessories and has been hailed as one of the best by many vaping critics worldwide. CBG vapers should check out AirVape OM and OM Mini, two of the most advanced vape pens in the market today.
