Questions about Vaping CBD Oil Answered –For Beginners

For anyone planning to take on vaping CBD oil, here’s an article that has the answer to the most frequently asked questions about CBD oil for vaping.

What’s Cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol is more popularly known with its abbreviation, CBD. It’s a non-synthetic cannabinoid that is found in one kind of plant, cannabis specifically hemp. CBD rose to popularity due to the therapeutic properties it has. In recent years, more and more people are discovering it for its health benefits.

Some people use it to relieve their symptoms that may stem from depression, anxiety, pain, epilepsy, and inflammation. Cannabidiol is an active ingredient that is also the main ingredient for CBD edibles, CBD vape juices, CBD oil tinctures, CDB creams and lotion, and CBD capsules.

What’s CBD oil?

CBD oil is the same thing as hemp oil. Traditionally, it took the oral tincture form which means the oil was dripped beneath the tongue to experience its effects. CBD oil often contains medium-chain triglyceride (MTC) oil, which is sourced from coconuts and is not intended for inhalation. If inhaled, it may result in severe health problems such as lipoid pneumonia.

Therefore, CBD oil tinctures are only intended for ingestion and must never be used for vaping. Although most of the bottles of tinctures don’t mention this, you now know better. It can be quite confusing especially that tinctures and vape juices have very similar bottles. On the other hand, CBD vape juice is processed for and intended for vaping.

Here’s now the CBD oil types that are intended for vaping.

        CBD Cartridges

These cartridges are slim and are disposable e-cigarette tanks that contain CBD e-liquid. They are compatible with 510 batteries and offers convenience much to the delight of beginners in CBD vaping. Aside from cartridges, pods are also available which are used with devices such as JUUL.

        CBD e-liquid

Otherwise known as CBD vape juice or oil. While it has oil in its name, it actually doesn’t have any oil. This CBD distillate is made using food-grade ingredients making them safe for oral intake, but still very different from CBD tinctures.

Checking the ingredients is one way of distinguishing whether it’s a tincture or a vape juice. Just like any other vape juice, it should have VG, PG, CBD extract, cannabinoids, and terpenes. If it has anything else in the mix, you might be looking at a tincture. Of course, the bottle label should mention e-liquid, vape juice, or e-juice.

What dosage is best for me?

Unfortunately, there’s no standard dosage that’s applicable for everyone. There are some factors that need to be taken into account such as the severity of symptoms, tolerance, and body weight. Everyone has their own metabolism rate and the endocannabinoid system. Therefore, results can vary from person to person.

A standard vape cartridge with 100mg CBD can deliver around 1 or 2mg of CBD in every draw. A CBD tank or vape pen can deliver more CBD per draw. The strength of the vape juice and the device used also contributes.

To find the ideal dosage for you, it’s always best to begin at the lowest recommended dosage going up. The minimal dosage of CBD is 1 and then give it 6 hours before taking the next dose. Increments of 5mg is a very helpful tip. Observe its effects on you after every dose. The effects don’t always show at the same time for everyone. You might miss the effects if you don’t give it an overnight to kick in. After you achieve the desired effects, stick with that dose. That’s the ideal dose for you.

On average, CBD users take between 10 and 30mg every day. But for patients with severe pain or inflammation, they take more ranging from 200 to 1000mg a day.

What side effects should I look out for?

At present, there’s not enough research about the side reactions of taking in CBD. There’s just a study published just last year which concludes that there are side effects to using CBD. The most common side effect as mentioned by users is drowsiness, which is usually mild. Bear in mind that this side effect is usually experienced by first-timers as it typically subsides after the body getting used to the dosage.

When the body has too much CBD, it sends you signals by making you feel drowsy. But if you take low or medium doses, you don’t have to suffer from it. Other mentioned side effects include hunger, red eyes, and slight euphoria. Of course, almost all medications do have side effects and compared to some, CBD’s is much less worrisome.

Can I get high from CBD vaping?

No. CBD doesn’t have THC which is the thing that gets people high. You can find some vape juice brands which have included THC, but it’ll be on the product description if so. Most CBD vape juices are made with industrial hemp. The THC percentage doesn’t go beyond 0.3, so it’s not sufficient to have that effect.

Is CBD legal?

CBD processed from hemp has been decriminalized by most states thanks to the federal law. Nebraska, North Dakota, and Idaho still impose restrictions as they still identify hemp belonging to other cannabis-derived products.

If you live in these states, you’ll have to get your doctor’s prescription to get your hands on CBD products. States that have legalized marijuana have CBD products that have more than 0.3% THC which is the legal limit.

THC and cannabis are not yet legal and are only available for medical use in forty states as of 2018.

Is there CBD-overdosing?

In 2016, the Americans for Safe Access released a statement noting that there has been no case of CBD overdosing. It is supported by research that found out CBD to have a very low level of toxicity. It’s highly unlike for a person to take lethal doses of CBD.

Which brands should I try?

Not all CBD brands stick with the quantities that they advertise. The worst news is that some brands have been found to mix in contaminants and synthetic chemicals that give some user that uncomfortable feeling of being high.

This is changing however as most brands are now implementing quality control. The best way to make sure you only get quality CBD vape juice is to purchase them from trusted sources. Reputable brands always have excellent customer reviews. If a brand company lets you go over the testing results of their products, then they don’t have anything to hide.
